Abbrook Aces

The Abbrook Aces focuses on introducing young people to cycling. In 2006 the Mid Devon realised that unless we took action the club would age and there would be no younger members to keep our traditions alive. We now organise fortnightly training sessions to encourage young people aged 5 to 11 to develop the cycling skills of balance, co ordination, and braking. The emphasis is firmly placed on having fun and enjoying your bike. We now have four British Cycling registered coaches who deliver the sessions under the nationally recognised Go Ride banner. The club has also gained Club Mark status (which is the sports councils kite mark for sporting clubs) which recognises that the club is fair and equitable in all its activities and in particular with young people.
All sessions take place in traffic free enviroments at Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club Strap Lane Kingseignton to ensure safety. Each session lasts one hour, during the winter they take place on a Saturday afternoon and during the summer a Wednesday evening.
We are proud that we have coached over 200 young people in cycle skills and we are now seeing the fruits of our labours as they progress into  our youth group, cycling on the open road and participating in cycle races.
Anyone can come along and have a go, just turn up on the day and register with the coach. Each session costs £1 and if you enjoy yourself and return for more coaching we ask that you become a member of the Abbrook Aces which costs £5, check out the details in membership.

 Training sessions now move back to Abbrook Park commencing 31st March at 1830. Also on 14th, 28th April, 12th, 26th May, 9th, 23rd  June, 7th, 21st July, 4th, 18th August, 1st, 15th, 29th September
