Special Event - the KNOBBLY 10 Race 2.5 Thursday 14th June, 6.15 pm, Abbrook, Kingsteignton Knobbly 10 on the Teign Valley A chance for MTBers to pitch themselves against roadies & testers for some fun prizes. Meet Abbrook at 6.15pm Entry on the night only £5 or £1 for under 18s. You must ride a standard MTB (no slick tyres or tri bars allowed). If you turn up on a Cross bike or other non-standard mountain bike you can still ride but won't be eligible for prizes. A great way to hone your speed for the next MTB race on 27 June. Meet at Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club, Strap Lane, Kingsteignton, TQ12 3PS. Take the Kingsteington turn off from the A38. Continue along B3344 then turn right onto B3193 for about 1 mile until you reach some traffic lights. Turn left at those lights and the sports club (with plenty of parking) is about 150 yards on the left. If you can't get to Abbrook by 6.15pm you can drive straight to the start on the Teign Valley by 7pm. Please email ben for directions. Knobbly 10 course description Start on the B3193 at the Canonteign Junction level with the sign post on the grass triangle (where the 2011 '10' course turned). Proceed North to the road junction just before the humpback bridge and about 0.5 mile short of the B3212. Turn into and out of the junction and retrace the outward route to finish level with the northern post supporting a metal gate and some 180 yards before the entrance to GM Coachworks. In 2011 the club promoted the Haldon Evening Series comprising three cross country (XC) mountain bike races using the cycle trails at Haldon Forest, near Exeter. The success of the series has encouraged us to join together with other organisations and individuals in the local area to organise the 2XC 2012 race series. |
